Marine growth adds hundreds of pounds to your dock. Regular cleaning keeps the weight off, prevents structural damage, and extends the life of your dock, especially critical for concrete floats.
The Details
Dock maintenance comes down to one thing: keeping the weight off.
Barnacles, mussels, and marine growth accumulate on every submerged surface of your dock: pilings, floats, cross-members, hardware. That growth is heavy. Left unchecked, it adds hundreds of pounds of dead weight that your dock was never designed to carry. Over time, that load stresses the structure, accelerates wear, and shortens the dock's lifespan.
Concrete docks have a specific problem. When concrete gets chipped or cracked, the foam core underneath is exposed. Once that foam is exposed, mussels and clams colonize the damaged area and grow into it. The next time the dock gets cleaned, removing that growth pulls away more concrete and foam with it, making the damage worse. Every cleaning cycle that follows tears a little more away. The only way to break that cycle is to stay on top of it. Regular cleaning before the growth gets established keeps the damage from compounding.
Our divers clean dock floats, pilings, and hardware underwater, removing barnacles and mussels before they become a structural problem. The goal isn't cosmetic. It's keeping your dock sound, reducing load, and getting the maximum lifespan out of the infrastructure you've invested in.
